Eventless

After a good nights sleep we all took our time to get out. Around 0830 we got on trail, aiming to get 27 miles in today. The terrain was not the worst, but it was real hot once again. Unfortunately our surroundings were not spectacular. The majority of the day the trail wound through the damp pine-forest again. At dinner today I would say that today had been one of the most uneventful days of hiking yet. A bit of a lame day…

Every once in a while I would leapfrog with Jukebox or Pops, but all of us hiked mostly by ourselves throughout the day. We only met up at an agreed on lunch spot. I just put on some podcasts and music and hiked for stretches of 6 miles at a time before stopping for water or a snack.

Around 2000 we made it to the campsite, buried deep into a valley of the pine-forest. There’s a cool creek running nearby and after washing my feet in the ice-cold water, which made my feet go numb, we had dinner and turned. All of us happy to have made it into camp an hour earlier than yesterday. Jukebox got real excited when she checked her phone; her family is coming to visit her this weekend in Dunsmuir and her mom is going all out on food; for the 3 days that they’ll come over she’s made a complete menu for every day. And Pops and I are invited too! We got pretty psyched. Since we’ve been spending so much time hiking together these past 3 months I’m really looking forward to meeting her family too. It should make for some great time off trail!

I always flirt with death
I could kill but I don’t care about it
I can face your threats and
Stand up straight and tall and shout about it

I think I’m on another world with you
With you
I’m on another planet with you
With you

You always get under my skin
I don’t find it irritating
You always play to win
I won’t need rehabilitating
