Extended Bliss

Today will definitely give all the other zero’s I’ve taken so far a run for its money. Jukebox’ family had thought of everything in terms of food and drinks, and since we had already done our resupply, there was no reason for us to leave the house. Which we didn’t. After waking up from a great nights sleep on the comfy air-mattress, we all gathered round the kitchen table for coffee, biscuits and gravy, hash-browns, pancakes and fruit. Oh what a joy!Everybody got comfy and before 1100 the first beers were cracked open on the outside deck. Spirits were high, and we shared stories about our adventures with Julie, Dick and Ben. It felt like only a couple of minutes had passed, when Julie asked if we were ready for lunch. I definitely was, and with the insatiable hiker-hunger we are all dealing with, I reckon the others were too. Within the blink of an eye lunch was served and we were enjoying our share of the delicious taco salad and margaritas!
Then it was time for some games. Jukebox wrote everybody’s names on paper tickets and asked me to pull them out of a jar one by one, pairing up the teams for a game of Trivial Pursuit.I was excited to be playing with Jukebox since she’s got a big arsenal of, as she calls it, useless facts in her head. We sat down around the coffee table and put on our game-face. The evening developed into a sequence of hysterical discussions between team-members trying get as many questions right. We were all having so much fun! After another delicious dinner-break of pulled-pork sandwich with coleslaw, mac-salad and water-melon we got back to the game and Jukebox and I gloriously finished last. We however decided that we won the Sportsmanship-award for having the best attitude despite failing hard on the majority of our questions.
It was a great, great day, filled with wonderful conversation, food, drink, relaxation and a ton of laughter. What a zero!

Gonna wash the dust off my soul
Gonna listen to some rock ‘n’ roll
No cares, come what may
I’m making a beautiful day

Ooh, oh oh, my my
I’m learning to fly
Hey, hey, what’s that you said
Let’s not forget we’re alive

Gonna climb that hill behind my house
See what this place is all about
Cause from above it all, you can’t help but say
It’s gonna be a beautiful day
It’s gonna be a beautiful day
