Homestretch

Decent sleep, hiking at 0630. Farmland, farm animals. I was the first customer at the café under the windmill. While in the restroom, the café owner turned on the radio. Africa by Toto was playing (no kidding). Applepie and coffee. Best coffee on trail thusfar. Back into the forest. There were hills there too. Clearings in the forest gave way to scenic views that reminded me of walks in the United Kingdom (or the Shire for that matter). A brief chat with a cyclist on the trail. He peddled on and dissapeared out of sight. Met him again ten minutes later when he cycled towards me. Must have been doing a loop or something. Another ten minutes later I checked my map and learned I was no longer on the trail. Maybe that’s why the cyclist had turned around. As did I. The trail went some more up and down. Arrived at the city centre of Groesbeek at 1230. End of section, end of hike. Did 125 km in 5 days. A little PCT remembrance ritual in the shape of a vanille milkshake. I didn’t learn a lot on this hike. I was out walking in the sun and writing. This is good.

Bless your hearts,

Joris
